Snow Taster

Well, I don't know about tasting the stuff but I do know we have a lot of snow here in southwest Saskatchewan, Canada.  It's pile up everywhere... the fields are covered and the ditches are full.  I know spring is just around the corner and it can't get here soon enough for me!
Today is the beginning of another challenge at Christmas and Sweet Stampin' and the theme this next month is No Red or Green.  Our sponsor is Flatfriends and up for grabs is four of their fabulous digis.
No red or green... hmmmm... how about purple?  I love purple and My Mind's Eye has some fabulous papers in their So Sophie - Graceful collection and this seems a little Christmasy to me (especially the gold berry piece) so that's what I chose.  The image is Eat Cake Graphics 4027-G Waldo Bear and the sentiment is also from Holly's shop and is 8191-E Official Snow Taster.  I have some pretty purple glitter paper so I used that for the die cuts.  The snowflake is Impression Obsession's Snowflake die, the corner is Joycraft's 6002/0136 and the circle is Memory Box's Frostyville Wreath.  The buttons were white but turned out to be a pretty good match once they were coloured with Copics.  Finally, I used a Viva Pearl pen for the snowflakes and done!
Copics:  I used E95, E97 and E99 to colour the bear.

To the World

Here's another little stamp from Eat Cake Graphics and this one is called To the World.  Such a sweet little image and I think the sentiment is so perfect.  This worked up fairly quickly - I used Copics to colour the image and rubbed in Tim Holtz's Tumbled Glass distress ink to shade.  The paper is a fabulous piece from Bo Bunny's Chiffon Vintage collection (wish I had bought more of it).  The stars are dies from Taylored Expressions - the long row is her Reach for the Stars border and the single ones are the Seeing Stars die.

Birds, Birds, Birds

Holly at Eat Cake Graphics sent each of her design team members these three little birds and asked us to come up with something using them.  I chose to have the three of them sitting on a wire (not too creative, I know... we all want to be brilliant when we do these tasks) but I wanted to do a CAS card with them.  It was easy enough to do... I simply lined the three images up on a block and stamped it and then after, drew a line with a .5 Copic Multiliner.  The names and links for the birds are 5078-D Little Birdie Standing Looking Down, 5079-C Little Birdie Sitting and 5080-C Little Birdie Lying Down.  The sentiment is one from Chocolate Baroque's Words of Wisdom set, the ribbon is Stampin' Up and the pearls are from my stash.  The birds were coloured with various shades of the light  Copic C markers and finally, I softly sponged in a little shading around the birds with Tim Holtz's Pumice Stone distress ink.  Of course, you will want to check out the Eat Cake Graphics Blog to see what the rest of the team came up with, using these little birds.
Challenges:
Bearly Mine - Lace, ribbon, twine
Created with Love - Things that fly
Forever Friends - Animals, bird or butterflies

It's All About Finding the Right Tree

I hadn't realized it's been so long since I posted - I don't know where my time goes but here it is, the end of January already!  Very wintery here in southwest Saskatchewan with lots of snow but thankfully we are getting some relief from the extreme cold temperatures.
Today's card is my first as one of the new design team members at Eat Cake Graphics.  I was so excited when Holly wrote and asked me to be part of the team because I've always loved the ECG stamps.  Today's card was a good chance for me to dig out this stamp which I have had for ages (I like to let my stamps 'cure').  Anyway, I had a lot of fun colouring Finding the Right Tree (#8155-0) and the sentiment is perfect on so many levels!  The paper is Glitz's French Kiss collection, the ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and gem is from my stash.

Copics:
Mr. Piddles:  E39, E37, E33
Trees:  YG99, YG95, YG93
Snow:  GG70, BG10
I added a little Aleenes Glitter Snow to the trees, Stickles Dry Fine Glitter for snow and used the Viva Pearl Pen for snowflakes.  Finally, a little Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink was rubbed into the sky.
Challenges:
One Crazy Stamper - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Tie Up Your Loose Ends (use a bow)
Drunken Stampers - All that Glitters
Fussy & Fancy - Circles
